Students Recognized at Exploravision

This year, Mrs. Chybrzynski's students once again competed in the Toshiba/NSTA Exploravision Science Competition, and this year both teams won Honorable Mention!

5,600 students across Canada and the United States, comprising 1831 teams, entered the competition, 1281 of those students in the 4-6 grade category with 417 teams.

The KIES 5th grade team developed SWADS (Steering Wheel Alcohol Drug Sensor) to help prevent drunk and drugged driving accidents and deaths. The team included Taylor Caplan, Annabelle Graper, and Ben Markiewicz.

Knoch's 4th grade team developed RAD (Robotic Assistance Device) to be used by blind and visually impaired people in place of guide dogs and canes. The team consisted of Devney Amick, Mila Rockwell, and Cam Johnston.

"The Exploravision competition for K-12 students engages the next generation in real-world problem solving with a strong emphasis on STEM. ExploraVision challenges students to envision and communicate new technology 10 or more years in the future through collaborative brainstorming and research of current science and technology."
